Teaching Our Kids – God’s Word Today & Thoughts to Ponder
God’s Word Today:
Deuteronomy 6:5-7 NCV
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. Always remember these commands I give you today. Teach them to your children, and talk about them when you sit at home and walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Thoughts to Ponder:
We’re often aware of our need for spiritual growth and understanding of God’s plan in our lives. As we search daily and let the teachings of Christ sink into our souls we as parents have to realize the need to share these to our own children.
There are times we neglect to do so because we feel that they’re not ready yet to comprehend Biblical knowledge.
There are also times we feel that we don’t have enough time to do so.
This week I realized, through my wife and my son, that I should continue to teach them of these things.
That is also the reminder of our text today. A reminder to teach in every opportunity you’re given.
To teach not only to those people around you but to your very own family.
And most of all, you should be consistent.
Why?
It’s clear that God never changes and has loved us the same way since the beginning. With these in mind, the expression of His love should also be consistent. After all, what better way to show a loving and unchanging God than by being like Him.
By constant beholding and learning about God we, our families and our children would then experience change in our very nature. We’re changed to the likeness of Jesus.
Dear Father,
Thank you for your reminder this week.
Help us to seek You in everyday of our lives and share our daily Christian walk with others especially to our families and specifically to our children.
Change us and mold us all to have the likeness of Christ.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
