Trusting & Remaining Strong – God’s Word Today & Thoughts To Ponder
God’s Word Today:
Jeremiah 17:7-8 NCV
“But the person who trusts in the Lord will be blessed. The Lord will show him that he can be trusted. He will be strong, like a tree planted near water that sends its roots by a stream. It is not afraid when the days are hot; its leaves are always green. It does not worry in a year when no rain comes; it always produces fruit.”
Thoughts to Ponder:
There are certain times in life when we feel like giving up and would like to find an escape from all of the things that are steadily pressing on us. It might be one lingering problem that seems too persistent or at times it seems like the floodgates were opened and we feel overwhelmed.
The text for today reminds us of what we should do and feel in times of tribulations, it clearly states –to trust in Our Lord.
It does not tell us to trust on our own strength and capabilities or in others but only in Our Lord because there are great blessings in doing so:
The Lord will show us His power and will work on it. – “ The Lord will show him that he can be trusted.”
We will find the strength to persevere and be rooted to The Source. – “He will be strong, like a tree planted near water that sends its roots by a stream.”
We are not afraid of the hardships and we thrive in God’s care. – “It is not afraid when the days are hot; its leaves are always green.”
We become productive and bearer of God’s blessings and hope for others. – “It does not worry in a year when no rain comes; it always produces fruit.”
As we continue in our journey towards our goal of seeing and being with Our Savior face-to-face, let us be reminded that there would be a constant struggle…there would be hardships that would come every now and then, there would be hardships that persists and there would be several floods…but let us continue to trust in the Lord and find strength that He alone can give.
Thank you for this wonderful reminder of trusting in You. Please give us the strength we need from day-to-day, especially as we have been feeling weak from the pressing things around us that seems to have no clear end in immediate sight…but we know You will make a way.
Lead us on to be able to be more faithful living witnesses of Your unbridled mercy and power.
Praises be to You.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
